Berlin Berlin.
the place to be { free }
It’s 4am and I’m waiting at a bus stop alone, after leaving the club early to go home. A guy crossing the street to get into his Uber and wishes me a good night. Before he gets into the car, he’s asking if I’m alright. A stranger, checking in on me, in the middle of the night. That’s so Berlin. Next to a lot of other faces this city has. But this described mindset is so profound for a capital, for a city, for an organised human organism. The understanding, that we’re one big human family. A family that is integrating, showing compassion and stands for equality.
Also supported by the raving scene that the city is carrying like a backpack. Integration, acknowledgement and acceptance of whoever is in front of you, no matter what or how. No judgement. Cause around the next corner you run into a person that is contradicting your new made conclusions. Oh, and let’s forget about societal paradigms. Wake up to a new thought-through world, hunny.
Uff Berlin, it was nice to get to know you. I love and hate you. Sounds like a toxic relationship? Mhm, yeah it is! You attract me with all my senses, evoking the most joyful and exciting feelings in me. But you also disgust me to the maximum. How fucked up you are! How low you vibrate! The amount of short time pleasures you got. How pathetic you are, in your search for love.
But every relationships has at least one lesson. And Berlin showed me not only the beauty of techno but gave me a glimpse into a potential way of human coexisting. Leaving Berlin always makes you realise, that a lot of things that are natural in Berlin contexts, aren’t somewhere else on this planet. Berlin is a container for tuns of dreams, for freedom, for self-expression, for pleasure. And it definitely has its own charm, with its fucked up bars and dark dance halls.
But gosh did I learn what city life is, the hard way! City means downward spiral, means energy sucking frequencies, means living a lifestyle which is toxic for all planes of existence, means developing routines that take away perspectives and entring a hamster wheel you’ll don’t even wanna get away from cause you’re turning into one of those sheep as well. And yes, you can actually survive and life a high frequency life in a city, but gosh you need to make choices.
Choices I deliberately didn’t make, cause I wanted the full experience. The I go out every night, go party every weekend, recover until Wednesday experience. The work 9-5 experience, the I do yoga to release stress experience. I’m not here to judge, I’m here to talk about my personal story. And the party scene, by all the glory, dopamine and serotonin it has, can grab you and hold you like a prisoner… or you become Sisyphus.
How ironic – or precise that one of my favourite clubs uses that name. Sisyphus, in greek mythology, was condemned to repeat the same, meaningless task of rolling a rock up the mountain over and over again. He tho, was described of being happy about it, well aware of his condition. Although we all know, that it’s in the end all never lasting, short time pleasures, the temptation of doing it, is too strong. And that’s okay. It’s okay, because we all know it’s not forever. We all know that’s a period in our life, that most likely ends at one point and is able to teach us many things. How long this period can serve you and is beneficial for you, is something each one of us has to decide. And for some, this period never ends and they fall for it like Sisyphus did with his stone.
And Berlin holds it all. Berlin gives you the space to experience all of it. Allows you to be where you wanna be. Thankful for my time there, for the people I met, for the decisions I made. May we transcend this container to our collective human consciousness, so the whole world becomes a safe space, a loving container for every individual experience and path.
with love,
WITTA.
